Could a planet survive the death of its star? 💥 @esawebb has found one: WD 1856 b is a giant planet that circles a dead star every 34 hours. It’s hotter than it should be, which tells us it probably stayed far out while its star died, then moved in much later. Our Sun will die the same way in about five billion years. So this planet gives us our first look at what could happen to Jupiter. Send this to someone who loves space. 📹 @europeanspaceagency 🎞️ @NASA, ESA, @canadianspaceagency, R.
