Pat Murphy didn’t get his first full-time MLB managing job until he was 65 years old. Now he’s a TWO-TIME Manager of the Year and heading to the World Series. 🥹 His journey to the top was anything but easy. 🔸 Spent four years in the minor leagues as a player without reaching the majors 🔸 Won 947 games combined at Arizona State and Notre Dame 🔸 Started over in the minor leagues at 51 years old 🔸 Managed the Padres on an interim basis before becoming Milwaukee’s bench coach for eight seasons 🔸 Finally got his own team at 65 after Craig Counsell left for Chicago Since taking over the Brewers, Murphy has won Manager of the Year twice, led Milwaukee to 97 wins last season and 103 this year, and guided them to a sweep of the Dodgers in the NLCS. He spent years waiting for his opportunity while others might have walked away. At 65, he finally got his shot. Now he’s one of the best managers in baseball. 👏 Via x/thesportsontap | @punchoutpitch
