There is no such thing as a short walk when it comes to racism in sport.
In 1995, Michael Long from the Essendon Football Club took a stand against racial abuse, following an on-field incident with another player.
On Saturday 21 May, we had the privilege of being involved in this year’s walk, and to raise awareness of our ongoing Road to Respect project which demonstrates our commitment to work with the First Nation community to Bridge the Gap.
The project commissioned a local Aboriginal artist, David Dunn, to create an artwork representing the relationship between the Albury-Wodonga community and Wodonga Police.
This artwork was then vinyl wrapped onto Wodonga Police vehicles to raise awareness of the project.
