Ready for a really heart-warming tale about Ralphie the rescue wallaby? In May this year, Bairnsdale Highway Patrol officers found a wallaby joey after its mother had been killed by a car in Forge Creek. As local wildlife carers were inundated with rescued wildlife at the time, the officers applied to DELWP_VIC to become the joey's carers under the guidance of Raymond Island Koala & Wildlife Rescue. Weighing in at only 600 grams, the tiny velvet covered marsupial was named Ralphie and quickly became Highway Patrol's beloved baby. He now weighs a whopping 2.75kgs and enjoys a purpose built wallaby 'recreation area' with native plants and bark. Ralphie also regularly hops into the HWP offices for cuddles. In fact, Ralphie has become a support wallaby to anyone having a bad day or a rough shift. 💙👏🏽 #VicPol #Bairnsdale #HighwayPatrol #wallaby #supportwallaby
