A common saying in basketball is “shoot the same way each time.”
Why?
What we all really want is consistent outcomes (made shots).
The logical brain sees one successful way of making a basket and assumes repeating that EXACTLY is the path to success.
But basketball is sloppy. Every shot is like a snowflake.
Research has shown that the best shooters (people who can repeat the outcome of a made shot) DO NOT shoot the same way each time.
They actually have more functional solutions available to them. They are adaptive.
So in practice, it might be best to explore.
Try one foot, wide stance, narrow, eyes closed, whatever, etc. No two shots in a town trying to be “the same.”
