This summer, young leaders from around the U.S. will study abroad in Ireland as part of the Frederick Douglass Global Fellowship. Today, we celebrated those students alongside @vp Kamala Harris and Micheál Martin, Taoiseach of Ireland. This year's trip to Ireland will commemorate the 175th anniversary of Frederick Douglass's own tour throughout the country. Fellows will study leadership, effective communication, and strategies to affect positive social change as they explore the life stories and legacies of Frederick Douglass and Daniel O’Connell. “He imagined, I’m sure, in those days that he was in Ireland, that you would be coming behind him. So I’m counting on all of you to live up to that potential.” - @VP @bardcollege @emersoncollege @harvard @howard1867 @lehmancuny @oberlincollege @pomonacollege @stanford @univmiami @umkcinkansascity @univpugetsound @utchattanooga @woffordcollege @xula1925 #cieestudyabroad #ciee #cieefrederickdouglassglobalfellowship #fdgf #wh...
