Howard led 20–10 going into the fourth quarter at Franklin Field. They lost 24–20. This film is about how — and about a defense that did everything it could to stop it.
The Buffalo Soldier defense delivered two stands in the final five minutes: J. Augustus Olitz deflecting passes at the goal line before Mason Walters' 37-yard field goal sailed wide with 5:00 left, and Gabe Stevens sacking his way into the backfield at 3:12 with the game still 20–17. In between, Howard's offense had the ball with a chance to close the door — and gave it back. Penn drove anyway and scored the winner with 0:57 to play.
QB Tyriq Scroggins finished 13-of-33 for 140 yards with a touchdown pass and a rushing score — but Howard put up zero points in the fourth quarter, and that is the story of this loss.
Final: Penn 24, Howard 20.
