To celebrate #olympicday here’s what I think was truly the magic moment that led me to Olympic gold🥇. My foot was shattered 6 months earlier in three places and still had a large bone fragment lodged underneath it. I had trouble walking up the stairs to the platform let alone putting all my weight on my foot to jump, and this was the same action- throwing toward the platform- that I broke my foot on. This dive was painful AND scary. I had struggled with it since getting back in the water after breaking my foot. But before this dive, I realized that what I was doing was so much bigger than just me chasing a goal, and I knew that I had so many people cheering for me and dreaming right alongside me. When I lifted my arms, I no longer cared about the pain. And I looked fear right in the face and it disappeared. For God, for my teammates, for everyone that walked that journey with me… in that moment I gave everything I was for them. That’s what I did in that moment. Not worrying abo...
