The first moments we met you, you wanted nothing to do with us. You glared at us from behind a cup and fell asleep as self defense when we held you. But tentatively over the next few days, you started trust us. You relaxed a little. You started smiling. The first few months were a crazy transition for all of us, but you blended right into our family like you always belonged. Because you did. Because we had prayed for you since long before you were in your birthmom’s tummy. Because we longed for you when we didn’t even know what you looked like. We ached for you when we saw your picture but we couldn’t get to you for so very long. Years could not deter us or separate our hearts from you.
