This past year has taught me to include my kids in my victories and my struggles, to let them be a part of my journey and to really live out the example of the things I want them to learn.
While standing on a podium with them, my kids asked why my medal wasn’t gold.
I’ve had to walk the walk and explain my pain and frustration to them through tears while trying to find the words to explain so they can understand.
I’ve squashed frustration and learned patience as they try to climb all over me during a workout.
I’ve had to explain to them over and over again why I dive and train so hard because it’s a question that comes up all the time.
They’ve prayed with me over so many hard situations.
Any journey worth taking will ALWAYS be hard.
But when you can walk that journey alongside people you love that continually hold you accountable... well that’s the real gold right there.
