This Christmas was brought to a bittersweet end with the passing of my Nana.
.
She was just 33 days shy of turning 100 years old. But the beauty of it all is that she spent Christmas here on earth with two of her sons, and some of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, then she spent Christmas in heaven with Jesus, reunited with her husband of 67 years and her oldest son.
.
Nana was a pistol of a woman, always in charge, in the middle of the drama and wouldn't take 'no' for an answer. She was stubborn and determined, but also charismatic. Nana could talk a complete stranger into driving her to the hair salon. In fact she did just that on a number of occasions.
.
Over the years I have had many conversations that started like this: "I know your Nana. She is so very proud of you!" I think it's largely her hard-as-nails personality that I inherited that has allowed me to do the very things she was so proud of me for doing.
.
I will always remember her stories, the animated way she told...
