In January of 2009, I had the opportunity to go to Iraq and visit troops at over 20 Army bases. My eyes were opened wide to a way of life I didn’t know. So many honorable and respectful men and women denying themselves and serving their country. . One soldier had a tattoo on his arm that I asked to look at. It was scripture: . “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13 . He had lost a friend and was willing to make the same commitment for his fellow soldiers. .
