“We women share our stories here. When I sit here, I feel like I am not alone. We came here broken. We had nothing, only fear and pain. But this center gave us hope.”
Setara Begum left her home in Myanmar seven years ago and has been living in Bangladesh at one of the world's largest refugee camps ever since.
It's been hard, but she found comfort at a Red Cross center that teaches people new skills, like sewing, weaving and crocheting.
"The first time I finished making a cap, I felt proud. I thought, 'This is something my hands can do. This is a way to earn, to stand on my own.'”
This work being done by the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (bdrcs_official) is helping give people a sense of purpose and the chance to earn a livelihood, where opportunities to do so are hard to come by.
