Madelyn was just 22 months old when her parents heard the word no one ever wants to hear: leukemia.
For over two years, Madelyn’s family lived in a world of hospital visits, chemotherapy treatments, and moments when medicine alone wasn’t enough.
When her white blood cell count dropped dangerously low, blood transfusions became Madelyn’s lifeline. Thanks to blood donors, she continued fighting throughout her treatment and today, she’s healthy and thriving.
Her mother, Kathleen, now donates blood regularly and joined the bone marrow registry.
“You truly do not understand what the need is until you’ve experienced it yourself,” Kathleen said. “I wish I could thank the people who donated blood. Because of them, my daughter is thriving today.”
