After significant rainfall caused severe flooding in Kentucky, more than 150 Red Cross disaster responders are on the ground helping people recover.
10-year-old Gage, his family, and their two dogs, Pinky and Princess, had to evacuate to a Red Cross shelter when floodwaters started rising in their home.
“I don’t know how we made it here, but we did,” said Gage’s mom, Brandy. “I broke down when we walked into the shelter, and the Red Cross volunteers immediately started asking our sizes and got us dry clothes.”

“We came back to the Red Cross shelter,” Brandy said. “The Red Cross has made sure we’re safe, and they brought in a vet to make sure the dogs were taken care of, too."
