This navy-blue, Hoover apron-style dress has a unique feature you may not notice: The collar and cuffs are detachable! These uniforms were worn by Red Cross Braille Corps volunteers who taught vocational skills and braille to visually impaired veterans between the two World Wars. The Braille Corps program started back in 1919, and by the 1920s, volunteers were helping produce braille publications and transcribing books for the visually impaired. #RedCrossHistory #VeteranSupport #WWI #WWII #HistoryBuff #Archives #WorldBrailleDay
