Who knew candy could be lifesaving? 🍬
Whether you or a loved one manage diabetes, it's important to know what to do in a low blood sugar emergency.
- If the person is unresponsive, call 911 right away.
- If they are responsive, have them check their sugar levels.
- If their levels are low, give them 15 to 20 grams of sugar, like a handful of jelly beans or two strips of fruit rolls.
- If the person can't test and their levels are high, it's still safe to give them sugar.
- If their symptoms don't improve or get worse after 10 minutes, call 911.
