When little Eden was just 2 months old, she was diagnosed with a rare liver disease considered fatal within the first two years of life if left untreated.
Eden underwent a surgical treatment and received blood transfusions during the procedure. Unfortunately, the surgery was unsuccessful, and she was listed for a liver transplant when she was 5 months old.
Before and during the seven-hour surgery, Eden received multiple blood transfusions that helped her reach the end of a successful liver transplant. Today, she is 13 months old and thriving.
“There are real recipients on the other side of your donation that you may be helping or even saving,” said Sarah, Eden’s mother. “Someone's blood and plasma donations helped keep our baby well enough until her living liver donor was found and approved, and someone's blood helped keep her alive and well during her operations so she could be here today. We are so thankful for that generous gift!”
