3-year-old Riley was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma in March. Since then, she has gone through seven rounds of chemotherapy and resection surgery as part of her treatment. 💛 Riley’s platelet and hemoglobin counts typically drop after a round of chemotherapy, causing her to be low-energy and at risk for excessive bleeding. Platelet and blood transfusions have played a critical role in her recovery and boosting her energy levels. Riley’s father Matt was inspired to start donating platelets himself after her diagnosis. “After seeing how much of a difference each platelet and blood transfusion made in Riley's life, I wanted to give back and provide a similar impact to other cancer patients,” he said. Approximately two-thirds of all children diagnosed with cancer will require a blood transfusion at some point during their treatment. We’re so grateful for the generous donors who step up to give platelets for hospital patients like Riley. #ChildhoodCancerAwarenessMonth #RedCross #D...
