“I am forever grateful to the Red Cross — they’ve shown up during some of the most vulnerable moments in my life.” 🥹 When Elvir and his family were affected by a home fire in February, he didn’t expect the Red Cross to show up and help. “I knew firsthand that the Red Cross responds to disasters and wars across the globe. I had no idea they also assist with local disasters,” he said. The first time Elvir encountered our mission was when he was a child living in Bosnia. The Red Cross came to his community to provide resources like snacks and toys. “That was the first time I ever had a granola bar. For a child, who was living with the sound of bombs and having to hide in a bomb shelter for hours, those snacks and toys brought comfort and a sense of being a kid.
