A larger-than-life tribute to Jean-Michel Basquiat in New York City.
New Zealand street artist Owen Dippie (owendippie) has painted a nearly six-story portrait of Basquiat at the corner of Bowery and Great Jones Street, just steps from the building where Basquiat lived and worked during the final years of his life.
Inspired by a 1982 photograph by Gianfranco Gorgoni, the mural is a personal tribute from Dippie to an artist who has influenced him since childhood.
A fitting tribute in the neighborhood that played such an important role in Basquiat's life and career.
