Become a Citizen Scientist this summer! Nature lovers of all ages and expertise levels can help local chapters of the North American Butterfly Association (NABA) take their annual census counts at nature centers and wildlife preserves. The Miami Blue Chapter of the North American Butterfly Association will do the Coral Gables NABA Butterfly Count on Saturday, June 24th and visit hot spots throughout suburban Coral Gables, Palmetto Bay, and Key Biscayne. Teams will visit the Deering Estate, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park, Virginia Key, and Coral Gables. Deering Estate is home to several rarely seen species of butterflies! Join us on a guided Butterfly Walk on June 24, July 22, August 26 & September 23 where you will explore various habitats in search of the Ruddy Daggerwing, Dina Yellow, & Atala as well as the nearly 40 species of butterflies that are onsite!
