My first #FarmFactFriday of #JuneDairyMonth!! 🐮🥛 (should’ve been last week, but travel chaos happened 🤪✈️😂) SOOO let’s give ya some fun facts about dairy!! 😎 🍦 There are seven breeds of dairy cows - Holstein, Red and White Holstein, Jersey, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Ayrshire, and Milking Shorthorn 🧀 Over 9 million dairy cows are in the US 🍦 There are around 30,000 dairy farms in the US, 95% of those being family owned 🧀 The dairy industry supports more than 3 millions jobs in America and has an economic impact of around $750 billion 🤑🤯 🍦 Dollar for dollar, dairy is one of the most affordable protein and nutrition sources available (milk is around $0.25 per 8 ounce serving) 🧀 On average, a dairy cow weighs around 1,200 pounds and produces between 8 gallons (often more) of milk per day Are any of these facts new knowledge for you?!
