I want to talk about something I think about a lot. The thoughts we were conditioned to believe the ones that sound so normal we never stopped to question them. I call them Old Thoughts in Start With Yourself and they are everywhere. That telling the truth makes you cruel. That wanting more makes you selfish. That ambition on display makes you difficult. That money is unspiritual. That being a good woman means putting everybody else first. Here’s the thing these beliefs don’t sound dangerous, they sound responsible, they sound humble and some of them even sound admirable. That’s exactly what makes them so powerful and so damaging. A lot of these thoughts were never designed to help women thrive. They were designed to make us easier to manage. Easier to please.
