Qween Jean made history ⁠as the first openly trans woman to win a Tony Award! Among a number of queer winners at the 79th awards on 7 June, Jean took home the award for Best Costume Design of a Musical for Cats: The Jellicle Ball. The designer, who is also an activist and founder of Black Trans Liberation, was also nominated for a Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Play for Liberation.
