While breastfeeding itself is natural, understanding it often isn’t. We have to stop telling expectant or new moms that it will “just come naturally.” I know people mean it as encouragement, but it can actually create two problems: 1. Moms may feel like they should just wait until the baby arrives and everything will magically fall into place. 2. If it does feel hard or confusing, they may think they’re doing something wrong and give up. Breastfeeding isn’t everyone’s choice and that’s completely okay. But if you’re considering it or even thinking about trying, it really helps to learn about it before your baby arrives. It’s hard to understand when you’ve never done it before… but it’s even harder to learn while you’re also caring for a newborn. Preparation doesn’t guarantee it will be easy, but it can make the journey a lot less overwhelming. 🤍 @Medela #breastfeeding #breastmilk #milksupply
