If you believe the hands of justice will work in your favor because you are the victim or the family of the victim, please know that isn't true. Do not put all of your faith into the system because those wheels of justice are not turning for you. (Especially if you live in a town or community that still runs on the good ole boy system.) If you are on the victim side of things you may think you don't need legal representation but I am here to tell you that is the furthest thing from the truth. The district attorney's office may tell you that you do not need representation that, that is what they are there for but they represent the state and the defense represents the defendant and you need someone to represent YOU and your family's best interest. I asked this very question when we were preparing for my brothers trial (he was the victim) and I was told that it wasn't necessary.
