Skin tags are a common problem, leading many to look for easy solutions to remove them at home. Although solutions exist, I do not recommend them for home use. The first problem is that an individual may think that they have a skin tag when in fact, it may be a mole or even a cancerous lesion. Removing those with these at home methods with an incorrect diagnosis could lead to bad consequences if a cancer is growing there. The second problem is that doing procedures at home can lead to infection. Recently, I saw a patient who attempted skin tag removal at home and ended up in the hospital with an MRSA infection.
