When you think about pollution, you probably think about plastic and chemicals. But human waste can be a huge source of water contamination, too 🧻🤒 The Youth Movement for Earth-Friendly Citizens ymefc.ub, a 2022 Fellowship grantee and project led by Anu-Ujin Khurelbaatar (18), Tseenyam Davaasuren (16), Nomin Enkhbayar (16), and Namuun Enkhbayar (16), aims to solve that problem in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia’s Ger district. Through a public awareness campaign 📣, Anu-Ujin, Tseenyam, Nomin, and Namuun are planning to highlight how misusing and misplacing pit toilets is affecting the Tuul River and drinking water in the community. They also hope to help swap a few households’ pit toilets for soil-friendly BioLet composting toilets, and measure the impact on their soil quality.
