We’re stoked to share about Save My Sea, one of the awesome 2022 Fellowship grantees 🤗 16-year-old Siddharth Jha founded savemysea.lk in response to one of the worst environmental disasters faced by his home island. In May of 2021, a fire on the X-Press Pearl cargo ship off the coast of Colombo, Sri Lanka released tons of tiny plastic pellets (also called nurdles) into the ocean 😢 These nurdles are hyper-absorbent of toxic chemicals and pose a risk to any organism that comes into contact with them ☠️ Through public awareness campaigns and beach clean-ups, Save My Sea aims to educate and engage local students who want to help protect their marine environment 🌊 The Fellowship Program is a future.blue.youth.council grant initiative that gives funding and mentorship to students ages 13-19 who are addressing water-related issues in their communities through new or emerging projects 💧 We can’t wait to see all that Save My Sea accomplishes with the help of the 20...
