This #featurefriday, we wanted to show our gratitude for the amazing educators supporting and uplifting our student artists by featuring Stephanie Kinkel. On top of winning one of our Educator Innovation Awards, two of Stephanie’s students just won awards in our 2021 Ocean Awareness Contest 😃 🎉 🎉 🎉 Our 2021 Ocean Awareness Contest theme, Water Rising, focused not just on the ocean, but on water in its many forms, asking young artists what stories need to be told to protect this precious element 💧 Stephanie used it as an opportunity to show her students that they could make a difference when it came to the environment, making the Contest the final project of a five-week class she created called “Can we speak for our oceans?” The course used ocean literacy standards and Next Generation Science Standards to teach her 7th-grade students about their water supply, water as a human right, and other ocean topics 🌊 We were psyched when Stephanie asked us if we could have a virtual Q&A ...
