This #EarthDay, what path do we choose? 鈿栵笍 That's the question 2020 Ocean Awareness Contest Distinguished Honorable Mention Award winner Sydney Madera (16, Washington DC) asks with her piece 鈽濓笍, "It's Not Up to Fate." 馃寧 "In my work, the Earth slowly rots, but it also heals itself, representing how our actions can lead to two outcomes: the stopping of climate change or the prolongation of it," she wrote. 馃寠 "If the oceans continue to fill with pollution, the world鈥檚 biggest carbon sinks will cease to function and production of the majority of the globe鈥檚 oxygen will stop. 馃憦 I want to communicate how it is becoming increasingly important for society to take climate change seriously, that it isn鈥檛 something that we can brush aside and hope will solve itself." You heard Syndey 馃摚 We can't keep ignoring this #climatecrisis. It's time to act!
