Student artist Min Jae Kim's (17, South Korea) "The Cycle" illustrates "the cycle of the environment being affected by human activity, which then affects humans." For hundreds of years, oceans have served as the largest carbon sink on the planet, absorbing the carbon dioxide released by burning fossil fuels and soaking up 90% of the extra heat trapped in the Earth’s atmosphere. When water warms up, it expands, contributing to sea level rise. According to a recent study in Nature Communications, 300 million people are at risk from rising sea levels unless we significantly reduce emissions and strengthen our coasts. How do you feel the effects of climate change where you live? How will this change within your lifetime? Share your response as visual art, creative writing, poetry, film, music, dance, or interactive & multimedia in our 2021 Ocean Awareness Contest: WATER RISING. . . . #climatechange #climatecrisis #climateaction #sealevelrise #globalwarming #climateart #penandink #youthar...
