I hit up NC State Fair media day for the first time and got to try a bunch of the new foods coming to the fair this year. Some of my standouts were the oxtail empanada from Concord’s own kreyolflavors, the Korean fried chicken sandwich from ncbulkogi, the crab cake egg roll and strawberry cheesecake churro nachos from mikeniceempanadas, and the cookie butter cheesecake donut from fluffysdonuts. Fat Boys BBQ also took home best savory with their pork belly burnt ends, and Tropical Delights won best sweet with their Biscoff banana pudding. The ncstatefair runs Thursday, October 15 through Sunday, October 25 in Raleigh, so get out there and try some of these for yourself.
