But MJ's passion for motorsports predates his NBA career, and his history as a racing exec extends back over twenty years to 2004. After joining forces with seasoned racing manager Pete Mauhar, #Jordan recruited Mark Smith, Senior CD of Innovation at Nike to design the appearance of the bikes, suits, and even the team sneakers. In 2006, Smith unveiled a pair of Jordan IVs in black, white and royal blue, inspiring the colorway released to the public in March 2017.
