On December 19, 2007, Denzel Washington announced a $1 million donation to Wiley College to help re-establish its debate team. The same team whose legacy he portrayed in The Great Debaters, it had been dormant for years. His gift brought national attention to their 1930s-era accomplishments and helped inspire a new generation of student debaters. #TheGreatDebaters #JurneeSmollett #DenzelWashington #Movies #MovieClips
