2023 Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce Spirit Award design > A huge congratulations to all the recipients of this years 2023 Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce Spirit of Winnipeg Awards. Bravo!!! This is the second year I was given the opportunity to create these awards and the process of getting smoother. Such a treat working with such beautiful materials. Thank you again wpgchamber for the opportunity. - Although it is called the “Spirit Award” I think that can mean different things to different people. That said, I didn’t necessarily want to approach the design in a cliche manner, so I took a more contemporary approach. Using shapes and materials that somewhat contrast, my goal was to find balance in the composition while using mix mediums. The materials used are brass, Tyndall stone, teak, maple, walnut and bubinga wood. Drawing alot of my inspiration from nature, it felt natural to use the sun as inspiration.
