It is Homecoming Week at LMU, and In honor of the Elite Eight Team’s 25th Anniversary, we look at a return home in LMU Hoops’ History. On this date, Jan. 15, 1988, Senior Mike Yoest (pictured) led the Lions at home to a 115-75 win over San Diego to open WCC play. Yoest had 17 points and 15 rebounds, 10 of which were offensive rebounds. The Lions had 21 steals in the game, a record at the time, and saw sophomore’s Hank Gathers and Bo Kimble come off the bench for 39 points. The Lions would go on to a perfect 14-0 mark in conference play, post a 25-game winning streak - including a 119-115 win over Wyoming in the NCAA tournament (pictured) - and finish the season with a 28-4 overall record, the best in program history.
