In a recent interview, #LisaKudrow looked back on her time on #Friends and described the writers’ room as having a pretty harsh vibe behind the scenes. She said that after live tapings, if a joke didn’t land the way it was supposed to, things could get tense and “really ugly” in the writers’ room. Kudrow recalled overhearing reactions like, “Can’t the bitch fucking read? She’s not even trying,” and “She fucked up my line,” as examples of the kind of frustration that would get expressed. She also said the atmosphere was “brutal” at times and mentioned that the mostly male writing staff would sometimes stay up late making inappropriate sexualised comments about the female cast, including #JenniferAniston and #CourteneyCox, adding that it was “intense.” That said, she also emphasised that the six main cast members were very close throughout it all and were “there for each other” and supportive of one another even when things behind the scenes were difficult.
