Millions of Shia pilgrims have arrived in the Iraqi holy city of Karbala to observe Arbaeen, one of the world’s largest annual religious gatherings. Pilgrims from the Middle East and beyond are commemorating the killing of Imam Hussein, grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, and members of his family, at the Battle of Karbala in 680 A.D. This year’s pilgrimage takes place against a backdrop of regional turmoil impacting Shia-majority populations in Iran and southern Lebanon. #Arbaeen #Shia #Iran #C4News
