Indonesia will ban social media for children under 16. The Communications Minister said children face ‘real threats from exposure to pornography, cyberbullying, online fraud and addiction.’ And they will start ‘de-activating’ accounts from the end of March. It means under 16s will no longer be able to have accounts on what Indonesia are calling ‘high-risk’ platforms, including TikTok, Instagram, X and YouTube. The Communications minister said that ‘the government is stepping in so that parents no longer have to fight alone against the giants of the algorithm.’ #Indonesia #SocialMedia #Ban #C4News
