Since water companies were privatised in England, sewage discharges into rivers and lakes have soared, topping one million incidents in 2024 alone. More than 40 environmental groups are now pressuring parliament to use a new law to tighten regulation and put river health before profit. One of the campaigners, Stuart Singleton-White of Chalk Stream Restoration, says, “We’ve got to respect and protect our rivers… All of it starts from healthy, nature-rich rivers, and that should be the priority right across England.” #UK #Sewage #Pollution #C4News
