Egypt and Iran are calling on Fifa to stop LGBTQ+ celebrations at their World Cup 2026 match. Egypt’s Football Association told the footballing body that such events would clash with their cultural and religious values - where ‘morality laws’ are often used to persecute same-sex couples. The fixture in June next year has been designated by local organisers as a ‘Pride Match’ to coincide with Seattle’s Pride weekend. The organisers of the Pride Match have said they are going ahead as planned. #FIFA #WorldCup2026 #LBGTQ #Egypt #Iran
