I think we can all agree that floating an ICU nurse who is used to having a maximum of 2 patients to a med-surg floor where they take care of 4+ patients is just awful. Floating to a different unit where you dont know anything is, is already stressful enough. Imagine taking care of more patients than you’re used to on top of that 🥲. I’m super grateful to work at a hospital where ICU nurses cannot float anywhere else but other critical care units. I strongly believe this is the type of practice that every hospital should follow.
