DIY at-home kits are going to be offered to women who have rarely or never attended their cervical screening by NHS England. The tests look for the human papillomavirus (HPV) – the virus that is linked to the majority of cases of cervical cancer. It is expected that the rollout will begin in January next year. The NHS offers cervical screening tests – previously known as smear tests – to all women aged 25 to 64 every three years. But many people do not take up the offer, so it’s hoped this scheme will increase women’s uptake of the test. #cervicalscreening #testkit #smeartest Photo credit: Teal Health/AP
