Ugandan Olympic athlete, Rebecca Cheptegei, has died after 80% of her body was burned in an attack by her partner.  Rebecca’s organs failed at a Kenyan hospital, where she was being treated, in the early hours of Thursday morning.  Local Police Commander said Rebecca’s partner poured a can of gasoline over her and set her alight during a disagreement on Sunday. The two were heard fighting over land before the attack.  Violence against female athletes in Kenya is a concern, as Cheptegei is the third to have been killed in the country since October 2021.
