The Clackamas County clerk is now conducting marriage ceremonies – including for gay couples – for the first time since 2014, when the county’s former embattled clerk, Sherry Hall, refused to conduct marriage ceremonies of any kind after the state legalized same-sex marriage in 2014. Voters elected Clackamas County Clerk Catherine McMullen in November over Hall after missteps in the May 2022 primary under Hall led to the largest election debacle in state history.
