Coming from the United States, I had never seen someone so epic and majestic. I could not pass up the opportunity to ask him to do a photoshoot. It would be difficult to communicate as I don’t speak the same native language of the land. My model and friends who were behind me were also too intimidated to approach the man. So I had to strategize how to respectfully request him to do a photoshoot. I translated my ask into Mandarin on my smartphone. We approached him, and he said yes. Afterwards, my friends and model helped me translate instructions to capture a few specific portraits that I had visualized beforehand.
