Earlier this summer, a parliamentary inquiry found that the way loans had been presented to teenagers amounted to mis-selling - including comparing repayments to mobile phone contracts. Responding to today’s protests, a government spokesperson said it’s taking decisive action to improve the student finance system, including raising the repayment threshold for Plan 2 loans for the first time since 2021.
