Shrove Tuesday is the final day of Shrovetide, marking pre-Lent season which starts after Ash Wednesday. Pancake Day marks the 40 day lead up to Easter, where some Christians fast or sacrifice sweets or chocolate for example. The first recorded pancake race dates back to 1445 in Olney, Buckinghamshire. Making pancakes is a way to clear out dairy and fat before the fast begins on Ash Wednesday. #pancakeday #shrovetuesday #uk
